Forrest Gump (1994) 

It’s hard to find anyone who hasn’t seen Forrest Gump. This blockbuster starring Tom Hanks shook the world and delivered some of the most memorable moments in movie history. The film was partly shot in Hunting Island and Beaufort, two scenic locations within driving distance from The Restoration Hotel.

The Patriot (2000)

This epic historical fiction film starring Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger tells the story of an American Colonist fighting in the American Revolutionary War. The film was shot entirely on location in South Carolina. Important scenes were filmed in The College of Charleston and The Mansfield Plantation

The Notebook (2004)

Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams stole our hearts in The Notebook, a drama based on the novel by Nicholas Spark. “It’s not gonna be easy, it’s gonna be really hard, and we’re gonna have to work at this everyday” but you should check out their filming locations in Wadmalaw Island and Cypress Gardens.

Dear John (2010)

Dear John starring Amanda Seyfriend and Channing Tatum tells the story of two lovebirds who undergo seven tumultuous years of separation due to war. We have a soft spot for this flick filmed in iconic Charleston spots including Riverfront Park, The Citadel, and Folly Beach — and frankly, you should too.
